Rollins’ Department of Biology is housed in the newly renovated Bush Science Center. Within our teaching and research laboratories, we have diverse equipment for studies in general, ecological, and molecular biology. And, our faculty continually seeks the latest equipment to give students hands-on experience.
- Laser Scanning Confocal Fluorescent and Differential Interference Contrast Microscope
- High-speed and ultra-centrifuges
- Stereo and compound microscopes
- Uv/vis spectrophotometers and a nanodrop system
- Visible, uv, and chemiluminscent imaging system
- Electrophoresis equipment for both agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
- Thermocyclers for PCR and qRT-PCR
- Both fluorescent and light microscopes with digital imaging capability
- Tissue culture facility with hoods and CO2 cabinets
- Microinjection equipment for the injection of zebrafish and C. elegans
- Biopac Science Lab data acquisition systems
- Saltwater and freshwater systems for marine invertebrates, and zebrafish
- Two state of the art Conviron plant growth chambers
