Rollins Recognized Among the Greenest Colleges in the Nation
Rollins earns a spot in The Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges 2026 for its campus-wide commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable learning, and innovative green initiatives.

Rollins is one of the nation’s 388 most environmentally responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review. The education services company known for its test prep and tutoring services, books, and college rankings features Rollins in the 2026 edition of The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges.
The Princeton Review analyzed more than 25 data points derived from surveys conducted in 2024–25 of administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ sustainability-related policies, practices, and programs. Students attending the colleges were also surveyed about their “green” campus experiences. The College scored 89 on a scale of 60 to 99.
“Among the hundreds of schools we surveyed for this project, Rollins—which offers excellent academics—is also a standout for its record of environmentally responsible practices,” says Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief. “Since we debuted our Green Guide in 2010, we have seen dramatic growth in the number of colleges committing to sustainability practices—from constructing green-certified buildings to sourcing food locally. We are delighted to recommend Rollins to college applicants who want their ‘best-fit’ college to also be a ‘green’ one.”
Rollins’ inclusion on the Green Colleges 2026 list reflects a deep, campus-wide culture of environmental responsibility and a commitment to sustainability that’s rooted in both academics and action.
“The sustainability team at Rollins is thrilled to see the campus back on Princeton Review's Green Schools Guide for 2026,” says Rylee Sylvia ’23, Rollins’ sustainability coordinator. “This is a title we have held many times in the past, and we are so proud to have our collective efforts toward sustainable action showcased to broader audiences. It is a reflection of the truly hard work so many across campus come together to make possible, and we look forward to finding new and innovative ways to improve these efforts each year.”
Anchored by one of the South’s oldest interdisciplinary environmental studies departments and strengthened through the sustainable development minor and sustainability-focused coursework across majors like social entrepreneurship and communication—Rollins continues to shape eco-literate leaders poised to tackle global challenges.
A full-time sustainability staff position is dedicated to weaving environmental stewardship throughout campus life, and Rollins' recent affiliation with Earth Charter International further connects students to global training in ethics, leadership, and ecological responsibility.
The revitalized Foxbikes bike-share program and a new partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Rethink Your Commute expands access to safe biking routes and carpooling resources for the entire community. Hands-on experiences like the Rollins Urban Farm and newly expanded campus pollinator gardens demonstrate the power of sustainable, organic growing practices while long-standing efforts such as Fair Trade Campus certification further underscore Rollins’ dedication to ethical consumption and global responsibility.
Together, these interconnected initiatives help spotlight Rollins as a campus where sustainability isn’t simply practiced—it’s lived, learned, and continually reimagined.
