Study Abroad in Morocco

On this field study, Master of Liberal Studies students at the Hamilton Holt School explore Morocco’s rich culture and history, a majority Muslim country with Arab, Berber, and African identities located at the crossroads of Europe. This trip also examines Morocco’s modern challenges, including migration, climate change, urbanization, and maintaining the stability of a monarchy amid regional instability.
In Morocco, we'll visit historic cities built by Arabs expelled from Andalusia in the 15th century and explore the contemporary challenges Moroccan migrants face in Europe, while also learning about Morocco’s own migration issues with sub-Saharan migrants. We will also learn more about the food, culture, art, religion, and music of Morocco, including its Jewish past.

- Estimated Program Fee: $2,750 plus standard MLS graduate tuition for 2-credits
- Program Fee Includes: Housing, all meals, on-site transportation, museum, concert, and site entrance fees, tuition, program administration, and emergency insurance
- Estimated Additional Costs: Round-trip airfare from Orlando International Airport (MCO) $1,500, passport $165, lunches and additional meals $100, tips $50, federal loan fees $0, books/course materials $0, and professional licensure/certification $0.
- Visa: Not required for U.S. citizens
- Special Notifications: This program includes substantial walking, including walking on uneven ground or pavement, on-site travel that could induce motion sickness, and activities that could induce a fear of heights. The use of stairs is required for some activities, and there will be limited food options for students with restricted diets or allergies. Accommodations may not have air conditioning.
